The DaVinci Code....

DavinciCode-bkDavid Brown’s novel starts like a Hollywood thriller and ends with a Bollywood hangover. I like the novel regardless. Surprisingly no sex, so much unlike an American thriller. As expected the portrayal of Jesus ignited fury of the Church. A friend once told me, "histories are lies". Some of the observations made by the author in the novel echos my friend:
"….history is always written by the winners. When two cultures clash, the loser is obliterated, and the winner writes the history books – books which glorify their own cause and disparage the conquered foe. As Napoleon once said, ‘What is history, but a fable agreed upon?’…. By it’s very nature history is always a one-sided account".
As the historian Romila Thapar said: "there is no absolute objective history".

  2. I like that... starts like a Hollywood thriller and ends with a Bollywood hangover. Though I'm not quite sure what a Bollywood hangover is.

Anyway, just browsing the blogosphere and found your site.
